Academic and Career Planning

The Stevens Point Area School District is committed to providing a solid foundation and educating the whole child.  Our goal is to allow students the opportunity to explore and participate in activities which will help students have more experiences while in school to better prepare them for their choices about life after high school.  We want all of our students to be successful in their chosen path after graduation and in order to ensure that our graduates are college and career ready, all students will create an Academic and Career Plan (ACP) starting in Grade 6 and continuing with them through graduation.

DPI ACP

Academic and Career Planning, or ACP, is a student-driven, adult-supported process in which students create and cultivate their own unique and information-based visions for post-secondary success, obtained through self-exploration, career exploration, and the development of career management and planning skills. The Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (http://dpi.wi.gov/acp) in the PI26 legislation requires  public school districts to provide academic and career planning services to students in grades 6 through 12 beginning in the 2017-18 school year. These new academic and career planning requirements connect school districts’ education for employment plans and programs to the new academic and career planning requirements.

The ACP is a four part process of Know, Explore, Plan, and Go which students will develop starting in 6th grade and continuing throughout their time in the Stevens Point School District.
