Youth Apprenticeship

Any student—regardless of future plans—can benefit from an apprenticeship. It’s a powerful model of education that reveals multiple options to careers and higher education. Youth Apprenticeship (YA) is a 1 or 2-year program that gives juniors and seniors in high school the chance to explore a career area of interest. Students spend part of their school day earning credit and wages while they gain valuable industry experience under the guidance of a local business mentor.
SPASH offers students the opportunity to get hands-on career experience through the Wisconsin Youth Apprenticeship Program. Explore a career area in depth, earn high school credit, make connections between education and work, and earn wages during the program length all while attending classes at SPASH. It is a great opportunity for a student to see the relevance in what he/she is learning in the classroom, which leads to career opportunities in the industry.
How do students get involved in this program?
Stop in the Career Center at SPASH to schedule an appointment with Mr. Gostomski. All students may apply for any program area. The application process begins second semester of the sophomore year. Mr. Gostomski can give the list of requirements to qualify for a particular program.
