What we're about!

The SPASH Bowling Club is committed to providing all students the opportunity to participate in a club sport while learning and developing the game of bowling. Our program emphasizes skill development both on and off the lanes, while competing at a high level against other Division 1 schools.

We offer both Varsity and JV teams, allowing student-athletes to grow within the program based on their skill level and experience. Our ultimate goals are to compete at the State level and qualify for Nationals.

Philosophy
We believe there is a place for everyone in our program. Inclusion, sportsmanship, and representing SPASH and the community in a positive manner are central to our mission. Student success in the classroom comes first, and all participants must meet established academic and attendance expectations.

Program Structure

  • Open to all students who meet grade and attendance requirements
  • Co-ed program (with previous opportunities for separate girls teams when numbers allow)
  • Varsity and JV levels for both development and competition
  • Focus on teaching fundamental skills, strategy, and team concepts

Training

  • Practices are held twice per week
  • Locations: Skipp’s Bowling Center and Five Star Lanes

Competition Format

  • High School:
    • 10 meets per season (primarily doubleheaders)
    • Matches typically held at Dale’s Weston Lanes
    • Compete against Division 1 opponents
    • Format: 9 Baker games per match
    • First team to 5 wins takes the match
  • Middle School:
    • 7 meets per season
    • Format: 7 Baker games per match
    • First team to 4 wins takes the match

Baker Format Explanation
In the Baker format, each bowler completes specific frames in a rotating order (e.g., frames 1 & 6, 2 & 7, etc.), contributing to a single team score for each game.

Travel
Competitions are held at local bowling centers, primarily at Dale’s Weston Lanes, with occasional travel to Rhinelander, Merrill, and Antigo. State tournaments rotate locations (e.g., Green Bay, Neenah, Appleton, Weston). All transportation is parent-provided. National competitions may require further travel.
